Fuel pump not priming everytime?

Also, there is a fuel pressure regulator built in to the fuel pump housing. That could be your issue. There is a few tests you can do to check it. One is a pressure test, one is flow. They are in the factory service manual

With the flow test you take the line off at the top of the fuel pump, take a length of 1/4" hose, attach one end to the fuel pump and the other end into a bottle. I think its supposed to move 3 oz of fuel every time it primes when you turn the key on. So what I did is take a 20oz bottle and do the test 6 times, which should be 18 oz, or close to the top of the bottle. When I had issues it wasn't nearly that much. Do a search for my thread titled "corvette fuel pump". I will double check my numbers at lunch when I can check my service manual.

Also, if your issues are higher up in rpms it is probably a pump problem, not a regulator problem. A certain amount of psi is needed to make the injectors open. I've been around the brute force efi system a lot.
