job update
So I just got off the phone with my friend that set up the job interview. He talk to the to the guy I interviewed with today as part of his job and asked if he had talked to me yet.I have work at the same place for twenty seven years and the part time jobs that I had were at independant bike shops that both have closed over the last couple years and two tow companies that are under new ownership.I put down the one main job as a refference.
He told my friend that he would have to think about it because he felt I didn't have enough refferences.I would think that staying at the same place for twenty seven years would be a better refference to my abilities that if I work at twenty jobs in twenty years.
I had worked on the Mass. Institute of Technologies handy cap vans and their wheelchair lifts. There were ten vans and busses with different brands of chair lifts and he was dissappointed that I didn't know the brand name of the lifts.
Personally ,I don't care what brand something is .If it is broken , I fix it.The lifts are hydraulics and canterlevers or hydraulics and chains (which ever type they have) .It's not rocket science.
While I was there one of the mechanics came up to him and said he pushed it the shrader valve on the ac system and "stuff" came out so he didn't understand why the system didn't work. That right there tells me I know more than their mechanics do.
Sorry for the rant,I'm just not used to having to jump thru hoops for work.Usually my knowledge is enough.
