Install Muzzy Super pro questions

The Muzzy SP came in so I tore it down yesterday, and was hoping to install today. . . I have a few questions B4 i screw something up.

I have some contact on the rear head pipe, it does not contact the bolt on the trans. But it does contact the frame in front of the gas tank. I want to wrap the exhaust, so the contact will get worse after I wrap it. Is this a big deal?

How much does the exhaust stick out at the left foot peg area?. I see in the pictures from 05-BF-750 that the black guard is still being used. Does anyone know if it has to be bent at all; or does it contact the exhaust pipe?

I can push on the pipe with a little presure to get it to the mounting tabs. Is this normal? Or am I not quite where I need to be in getting it together correctly?

I had it just slipped together in place so I can mark all my joints with a sharpie. Then I can pull it off the bike to wrap it.

Thanks guys - Greg

Yes with the black foot guard thing has to be bent. Just bolt it on like normal and then pull it out till it isn't hitting the pipe anymore.

My pipe was also hitting the frame in a few spots you just gotta keep adjusting it all until the head pipes are not touching the frame.

Just a heads up the SP system does not get hot at all. There really is any reason to wrap it unless you just like the looks of wrapped head pipes.

I no longer have the SP system as I could never get it to stop leaking right where the pipes are held together with the springs .
Okay thanks for the advice.

I'm heading into the garage again tonight. Last night I fought with it for 3 hours, and never did get it like I want it. I'm real close, but not exactly right. Thanks for the heads up about the wrap. No, I hate how wrapped exhaust looks, just hate the heat even more. I'll leave the header wrap off, and can add it later if need be.

I have a similar problem with my Yoshi's---Isn't there some type of pipe wrap we could use where the pipes come together---Like a piece of heat wrap but doen't bake on and is easy to remove when necessary---All the ones I have found are like strips of muffler repair but they all melt and bake on to the system---Thanks

Oh--James--I've got your Pro Circuits on now--pretty nice.

Damn that was my very first exhaust system for my V. I'm now on my 5th exhaust system . I sold them to ya almost a year ago and your just now getting them on?

Them suckers were still brand new when I sold them to ya. They sound very nice don't they.
Do most people have a leaking problem with the Muzzys? If so, I may have 2nd thought about ever buying one. My HMF duals are loud as hell but don't leak at all.

My original standard Muzzy never leaked once, my Super Pro doesn't appear to be leaking however I've only road 100yrds with it :(
andy, did you have any issues installing yours?i have a super pro coming this week and hope im capable of bolting this up correctly.my hmf's i had on and off a couple of times and never had any leaking problems

Yep I have a std muzzy on my 750 and it never has had a leaking issue either. Both my Muzzy pro and Muzzy SP leaked in the same area.

When your exhaust is leaking it is impossible to tune with an o2 sensor, the AFR will never be right.
i dont think mines leaking, where Re the problem spots? if its in the slip joint for the rear head pipe i wont have it bc john had em welded together.

How in the world do you get your head pipes on and off if you got them welded? have pictures?

Yeah they are still brand new--I had a set of HMF's in between---And yeah great sound---So that's 3 sets for me---Only other set I'd like to try would be the LTE's---Definitely no Muzzy for me.

Not yet for me---You haven't tried the Yoshi's yet:lol:

Yeah...I wanna see that too...
Only way I can think of is to remove the exhaust studs, drill, tap and install Helicoils, so you can use header bolts...but even then you'd need to be a magician to get em on & off...????
We need pics!:D
dixietuff, how did you make out with your muzzy?i bolted mine up today and it was alot easier than i honestly thought it would be.it went together very smoothly.i can't believe how quiet it is compared to the hmf duels i had before.i will probably leave the black guard off mine though.
