Alright, so my 05 kfx 700 won’t start. It ran when parked but sat about 7 months in the the garage. I dumped the old fuel and put fresh fuel in. the carbs are clean and it’s getting good spark. I was told the valves need adjusted but I took it to a shop and it’s getting 30psi for compression. Mechanic says that’s why it won’t start even on starting fluid and there is no point in adjusting the valves with such low compression. Is it time for a top end kit or does this mechanic not know sh** lol

The most common reason for low compression on these engines is tight valves.
That being said, it ran before it sat. Pour a couple of cap fulls of motor oil down the plug holes to give it a compression bump, and see if it starts; the rings might be a bit stuck.

I have limited wrenching skills but I do adjust my valves. Give it a try. Motion pro makes feeler gauges with a bend in them. I found that tool useful when I was learning vs. my straight blade gauge set.

Here’s a link to a video a kawieriders member made. I found it useful.
