Hey guys I'm sure you all know the horror that is the kickstarts mechanism. I'm machining new bushing but my question is how tight should the gears be on the shaft bc the shafts themself move in the case so are the bushing acting as bearings or just a shim. I'm sure they need to be able to turn on the shaft, but I'm not sure bc iv never had a factory fresh gear. Thanks guys

I actually just replaced that gear on my Mojave. I just bought a factory one. The gear I bought was very tight against the shaft, and I had to use a hammer to even put the new gear on. The shaft turns the opposite direction as the gear when running, so the bushing does act as a bearing. I thought about machining one myself, but I didn't have the money to have someone else machine one, and I didn't have tools myself. I'm really interested in how it turns out.. Keep us posted!
