I am trying to repair a Mule 600 for the Chaplains. It won't shut off! I figure that is a sign of a bad ignition and I ordered a new one to install this weekend. What else would you suggest to look at if this doesn't fix the problem? Also, how do I get the Mule to turn off, if this doesn't work?

Bonus question: When poking around, I noticed this wire (circled) coming off of the battery. Any idea what it is for?

That red wire looks like someone else added it
The kill on these mules are igntion coil grounding.
There is a kill wire that plugs onto the coil, and on some mule's it then plugs into a longer section of a wire, so there are 2 places where it can come unplugged.
best thing to do is locate a electrical diagram and trace the wire.

Solved the problem. When I took the dash and wheel well cover off, I discovered that the ignition switch wires had been snacked on by a critter. Rewired the broken wires, and it works again.

Thanks
