Heres something that no one seems to have thought of with the fan problems. If i'm not mistaken the tail light comes on when you start your ATV reguardless of whether any other lights are on er not? If so then run a new hot(positive) wire to your fan from the positive wire of the tail light, that way the fan will come on and go off with your tail light which in turn means that your fan will come on when you turn the key on and go off when you turn the key off! P.S. you'll prolly wanna replace the tail light fuse with a bigger amp fuse to handle the extra load from the fan! If anyone sees any problem with this i can tell you how to hook it up to the key switch useing a 12 volt relay to keep some of the load off of your key switch and wires!

put a second rad up top... a small one from a dirt bike mabe... and run a toggle switch with a fan and never look back... or just ride in the yard and not play in mud..... every quad overheats if ur muddin.... look at my pic of mine and my buddys brute.... we both have 2 rads for a reason

They are supposed to switch off when you turn the key off to keep from running your bat down but the reason for the relay is to keep the high amperage from running through your key switch and makeing the key switch get hot> It only takes a very small amperage to kick the relay in but it takes a lot more to run the fan! The fan needs constant power so it can turn on and off as needed!

bump i gotta 05 prairie 700 thats flashing the over heat light at me after about 15 mins of riding. Ive power washed the radiator. pulled the hoses off the rad and flushed with water. drained the overflow and added new coolant. The fan kicks on once it gets hot then starts flashing the temp light. I let it sit and it cools off go ride for another 15 and happens again.

I did notice what you guys are calling a fan breaker is just 2 bare wires twisted together now from the previous owner.

Whats the fix for me? whatever is cheap and simple. Fan seems to be working fine but only comes on right as it starts flashing the light at me. should it be coming on full time or before then?

Your fan should be comming on before the temp light starts flashing. I could be wrong, but it sounds like that your temp. senser is not working correctly. The only cheap fix that I can think of is to wire the fan to a toggle switch so that you can turn the fan on and off manually. for directions on how to wire the fan on the toggle switch try doing a search here, if you can't find it here, goto Mud In My Blood.com and search there. The first thing I would do is put a 10 amp blade fuse inline where the 2 wires are twisted together. Good Luck and let us know if you need anymore help.
