Radiator relocate? Is it a must? Overheat?

Stock 750 rads are barely adequate under the best conditions and are insufficient under nasty conditions . Both of my friend's 750's would always overheat . It did not take very much either . Even driving in the snow would cause their temp lights to come on .

So , we built a custom rack mount setup from aluminium and relocated the rad on one of the bikes . This position has obviously a lot better air flow and it completely cured all of the previous cooling issues . It made a huge difference and the fan very rarely even comes on . Ever .

My 650 SRA has no cooling issues at all as well . It just seems to be the 750's . Both of my buddies with 750's have had issues since day 1 .

I suspect that the biggest culprit is reduced air flow through the rad because of the bodywork design . Just not enough air gets to the rad .

As soon as I relocated the rad , all cooling issues disappeared completely .

Just curious , do your buddies have 650 SRA's or i models ?
