replacing output shaft on lakota help

just wondering how to replace the output shaft in my transmission on my lakota. i have the cover off right now and it looks as if i gotta take the engine out and split the case. is this correct?

Thanks guys for the respose and the Manual.. Greatly appreciated.
I just bought this Lakota a few days ago for a great price ($400) and it already had 4 new tires, Battery, new chain and Sprockets and brakes all around..
I dont mind having to put some money into it as long as it will not break the bank..

Not a bad deal at all! I got mine for 400 with broken plastics and a warped head. I put a new sprocket on because the old one was bent and got the cylinder and head planed for 50 bucks and she was good to go. I had to take that side cover off and ended up messing up and oil seal so now i have a leak around the shifter, so that is something you may want to watch out for.
