Rich condition

So I have a really rich condition and will slowly rpm will drop and cut out… I have a stock motor I have stock jetting 135 140. I have all new keihin jets in the carb. I have checked my plugs after everything I am going to explain always black and powder texture not wet. So I have turned my a/f screws every combo as far a turns in and out still rich. I switched to the hotter iridium plugs still rich. I did the mini ms mod first changed nothing then I built some cross overs and still nothing changed I was under the impression I would have to jet up with cross overs would have some backfiring or something runs fine but I’m still getting smoke from the pipe and plugs still black and dry powdery I dropped main jet size still the same but less power I can’t figure out what’s going on!!! I thought maybe I got blow by from bad rings but did a compression test and got about 63 psi on both cylinders… next step is cutting holes in my air box lid to get more are in. Anybody dealt with a bad rich condition could my cdi be going or something?

Yeah..the simple stuff..like the #1 reason for an extreem rich condition in any Kawasaki with the Keihin carb is a problem with the choke(s). The plungers are not seating for some reason such as rusted-out springs, trash in the track, rusted cables, twisted cables...ect. You could also have a leaking float valve and the overflow line is blocked for some reason...like mud or..anything.

So I have tried everything to lean it out and nothing seems to work I cut the holes in the lid and still running rich black soot not wet and blows little puffs of black smoke when reving hard I’m not sure what to do at this point I have stock jetting and the carbs are spotless I have had them off 9 times cleaned examined same thing will idle fine then just slowly die out plugs are black since I put the x overs on and didn’t have to change my jetting runs fine no backfire could that mean anything or did the air box lid mod only difference I noticed was if your cursing then wot it seems to take a little longer to rev up and I did a compression test cylinder running around 63 and 60 psi so couldn’t be my rings or valve seals could it what about a bad cdi or maybe my timing is off a tooth when I changed rocker case on front cylinder any help would be very much appreciated!!!!

as kawirider said make sure your chokes are not stickin on
the machine uses decompression to start, so that is why you read 60 and 63.
ours likes to run fat with the 12 hole mod 182 front and 185 rear jet sea level in michigan
So I finally figured it out all my problems with the rich condition the fouled plugs the stutter and shutting off. It was a mixture of things for one even though I had checked my float height’s before I didn’t measure right and they were off and only by a little but it made a huge difference once corrected also my fuel line was getting pinched when the seat was on and I couldn’t figure that out because you work on it with the seat off and last I had done the spark plug wire mod a while back and the spark plug wire was not screwing completely in on the coil causing me to miss and sometimes run on one cylinder so to anyone having a rich condition missing or loss of power check these things it can be very simple to fix but drive you crazy trying to figure it out thanks for all the help to those who gave me advice…
