Seperate Tach or Trailtech Vapour?

1036 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Andycyprus
Guys I think it's about time I fitted a tach so I can make sure I'm getting the best out of the motor etc (that's when I actually get to ride again )
so the two options I have is either a nice quality individual tach (suggestions welcome ) or the Trailtech Vapour, advantages here are other info offered by the Vapour EG. Temp, speed, etc, plus I already have the dash, the main thing is I want a nice clear and easy to read display, can any of you Vapour uses chime in with your opinion on whether you rate it or not and especially its accuracy.

I have the vapor on my Raptor. Works nice, but the downside is that it goes so fast i don't have time to look down at the screen. Seriously, I can see the tach just fine, but the numbers are harder to see at speed.
Thanks, I was hoping a few more Vapor users would chime in as well, I like the Trailtech products but both mine and my buddies Endurance packed in working in less than two years :(
Andy, I have been using my Vapor for 3 years now, still working well. I use it all the time. The temp and tach is what I use most of the time. It is a great all in one set up, eazy to install and accurate readings.
Cheers Dave, that's good to hear, how do you wire in the temp? Is it just a copper sensor that fits behind one of the hoses? I think I'd find the temp useful as I ride in very hot conditions in the summer.
I have always wanted a Vapor also. I have a endurance that is bad and the one that came out before it which is the Panoram or something. I didnt have any luck with the cable and magnet holding up so its off the V right now.
SOmething I have been wanting to do for a long time is take a speedo from a Prairie and mod it to work on a V, Then just add a tach later. That would be a sweet setup!

It,s eazy, it comes with a inline sensor, attach to the return hose under your hood. RPM should chime in with a pic of his sensor install. If you order the unit specificlly for the KFX 700, you will get all the goodies to install all sensor's and such. If you have any question of install stuff, there are plenty here who can advise the steps for you including myself. Go to the Trail Tech site and open up the online manual, it explains all the options and set ups.

hi Andy!!

self have the old trailtech, and about 2years ago upgraded to the Trailtech Vapour, glad I did, tacho works great, even shows peak revs for the trip, only issue I had was when the trailteck battery went flat, got a new one and all great again!!

would I recommend it, yep!!

ease of inhalation, if you can do an motor kit, then this will be easy peazy!!

if you need any help of pics of my install, just shout!!
