for starters im sore as hell from riding today. what all can i do to improve my suspension at a minimal cost? i wiegh 265, 450 shocks are out as well as road magnet springs. i cant afford to loose ground clearance either. so with all of this in mind what do you recomend? if anyone has some parts and were on the fence please pm me and we'll see what happens.

I really don't think there is a cheap way to make it really good to where it doesn't beat the hell out of you.I bought my elkas used and had them redone for my weight and it still cost a good bit but now I can ride all day and I am good.

The stockers just plain suck. The Elkas rule. You might be able to find some Works steelies or something.

You might consider a rear shock rebuild. A number of companies rebuild them for a softer ride. Stadium, racetech, gtthunder are a few rebuilders that come to mind.

A rear rebuild combined with a Stadium 740 basic front shock would be a good combo. It would still be around $1000 though.

You may want to stay away from Elka if you have clearance concerns. I had stadium preload shocks and Elka zero preload. The Stadiums provided more ground clearance even when you factor in proper sag.

The Stadiums were the most plush riding. The Elkas handle better though.

Aarron,

Considering watching you ride the "cheap" thriplerate works shocks may be all you need. That is what Cody is using, and you'd have to agree they are not hindering his riding at all. You can get a simple triple rate spring with rebound adjustment. Unless you plan to start pulling triples off anytime soon.
