I want to get a new camcorder, definetely HD and really want Hard drive. What should I look for when comparing models? Is the higher the number of zoom the better?
Any downfalls of the Hard drive? I hate dvd's and tapes so that is why I am leaning toward the hard drive. Do some brands have better software for putting the video on my laptop?

Also I need one that can handle being in the cold as I want to video my ski team training.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Anti-shake feature is the main option I would look for.

Depends on how much you want to spend. Both the JVC and Sony HDD cameras are pretty good for the money. As far as the zoom goes, I wouldn't pay much attention to the "DIGITAL ZOOM" numbers. I avoid using the digital zoom at all. All it does is spread out the pixles and drops the quality of the image.
