Thank you for posting this....some people have have seemingly confused church with God....the intent of our founding Fathers is fast being trampled by people, who if it weren't for the freedoms that the F.F. were so devoted to, they would not be able to speak their mind.
The separation of church and state was meant to set forth the premise that the state cannot dictate what RELIGION you follow/believe in, even if that means NONE.
This works very well until someone decided GOD and RELIGION were one in the same.
THEY ARE NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They wanted to guarantee everyone FREEDOM.
not please everyone....you'll never do that....just give everyone the freedom to please THEMSELVES.
The scary part is, this same group apparently gets pleasure by telling eveyone else what they can and cannot do...in essence...taking away our freedoms.
If you don't want your child to believe in GOD...fine...teach him why he shouldn't....
don't make those that DO believe in GOD remove His name from a verse that was invented to remind everyone your right to FREEDOM.
How can anyone justify their own freedom while limiting others'?????
Well said Gardog. the term "separation of church and state" isn't even in the Constitution, Bill of Rights or Declaration of Independence but appeared in a private letter written by one of our founding fathers (Ben Franklin I believe). The constitution states "Congress shall make no Law respecting the establishment of religion, or the FREE exercize thereof." It was intended to protect the Church from the government, not forbid the Church from expressing their views.
