I have a '99 Kawasaki Prairie 400 4x4 I am having issues with when tryign to throttle the machine up. I rebuilt the carb and replaced all the jets and the diaphram valve. I put everything back together and it would run fine, problem is when i went to reinstall the gas tank back into place it popped the starter plunger out of place as the front of the threds a messed up. I got the plunger reinstalled but now the machine will idle fine without the throttle on but when u try to rev the machine up with choke it backfires and bogs down and dies out. I can rev it up with choke on and it will run fine. This is why it is throwing me off. I have taken the carb apart and recleaned and got the plunger inserted and fixed but still having the same issue. If i push the primer valve on carb when throttling without choke the unit will run fine also. Any info would be greatful as i do small gas engine work and I do not know much of anything about these types of carbs but this is throwing me for a loop.

I relooked at all the jets and from what im seeing is there isnt any way to mess up the jets on the carb. I got to fooling around again and I remembered reading on another site about a air screw that was adjusted and you would have to turn it in and count to see how far out it was sitting. I did not know about this before I replaced everything on the carb so hence the pilot air screw is out of whack and I think that is why it isnt getting the right amount of gas seein it will throttle up with choke on but will die without choke. Does anyone know the factory setting for the pilot air screw on a '01 kvf 400 4x4. If so any information would be extremely helpful as i am getting frustrated messing with this atv.
