So I was doing some maintenace on the 750 the other day like changing all of the fluids and when I went to put the drain plug for the engine oil back in it would not get very tight. It was like you could go to a certain point where it felt tight, but then if you tried going a little more it would break loose again and then you could snug it up again and if you went to far-same thing would happen...So obviously it must be stripped out a little bit? i noticed that when I was working on a couple other things after changing the oil there was a little puddle of oil on the floor from the drain plug. So how should I address this problem without having to do any major repairs??? Just looking for a quick and easy fix....thread sealant??

Take it out and check your threads. If the plug threads are gone, buy a new plug. If the case threads are gone, you can buy an oversized repair plug that may work. They don't always do.

The plug threads are perfectly fine but I didn't check the case threads...Also there is no washer in between the plug and case??..I didn't think there was one ever there but I could be wrong....

There should be an aluminum washer under the plug, you might be going past the threads on the plug with out it.

those crush washer need to be replaced every time you change the fluids, they cant be reused anyone that tells you can reuse them is full of crap. they crush out at 12 ft-pounds, as the bolt specs are 14 in order to fully seat the bolt into the washer to make a seal. anyone that re uses these is doing nothing other then over tightening the bolt. the washer might be jammed stuck on the bolt. to get it off take the bolt place the head part in a vise and take a screwdriver and a hammer and tap the old crushed washer off. slip no one on and install. if the case threads a boggered up you can go to advance auto or napa, and get a sae self taping drain plug bolt thats the next size up sae have a diffrent cut on the tread witch would make it cut into the old treads better.

After seeing those pics, the washer will not make any difference now.

Speedy is being technical... which is by far the best way.

Each time you reuse the old gasket, the drain plug may have to be over tightened by a hair to seal. This can weaken the threads. That's all.

On another note, I've seen where you put a new crush washer on the drain plug and tighten it to specs and it still leaks. It had to be overtightened to seal anyways.
